Happy Holidays! I want to extend my heartfelt and warm wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy Holiday Season. Too often throughout the year, especially when times are tough, we tend to lose sight of what is really most important in our lives: our family and friends. During these festive times, it is important that we remember and give thanks for our many blessings. One of my New Year's resolutions is to keep my constituents better informed of what is happening in Harrisburg. In response, I have developed this e-newsletter, which I will be sending out to residents of the 16th Senatorial District periodically. I think it is a fast, convenient and affordable way to get news out to my constituents. I hope you find this e-newsletter useful and informative – and if you know of someone else who might want to receive it, please feel free to forward this email. I look forward to hearing from you. Once again, I want to wish you and your family Happy Holidays! Senator Pat Browne Senator for a Day Senator Pat Browne hosted high school students from across the 16th Senatorial District during his annual Senator for a Day student government seminar at Muhlenberg College in November. The seminar gave the students the opportunity to experience what it is like to serve as a state legislator as they considered various pieces of legislation during a mock session of the state Senate. Senator Browne said the previous minimum age requirement to obtain a photo ID card was 16, but a 2006 state law that recently went into effect reduced the minimum age to 10. The program is voluntary and individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when they apply. To obtain a photo ID card, individuals must complete Form DL-54A, "Application for Initial Photo Identification Card," which is available on PennDOT's Driver and Vehicle Services website www.dmv.state.pa.us under the Driver License/Photo ID Information Center. Individuals must bring the completed form, along with the required identity documents and a fee of $12 to a PennDOT Driver License Center to obtain the photo ID. Required identity documents are listed on Form DL-54A. To locate a PennDOT Driver License Center, visit the Locations Information Center on the Driver and Vehicle Services website. New License Plates Honor PA Veterans The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is now offering special vehicle license plates honoring veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, according to Senator Pat Browne.
Honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to obtain one of the plates by completing Form MV-150, the U.S. Military Veteran Registration Plate Application. The form is available online at www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/mv_forms/mv-150.pdf. Veterans should send the completed form along with a certified copy of their DD-214 and a $20 fee to PennDOT, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, 1101 South Front Street, Harrisburg, PA 17104. Residents of the 16th District may also obtain the form and assistance in submitting it by contacting any of Senator Browne's District Offices.Website Offers Resources to Choose a School, Identify Financial Aid

(PHEAA) is designed to help students select schools and find potential sources
for financial aid, according to Senator Pat Browne. EducationPlanner.org offers information on choosing a major, selecting a school, applying for admission, and finding ways to pay for it. The site includes tools to compare schools and their financial aid packages. It also offers information and links to more than 4,000 postsecondary schools. "This website is designed to help students match their interests and goals with the appropriate courses of study and the colleges that offer them," Senator Browne said. "It is also an excellent resource for identifying and comparing financial aid packages and for finding out about scholarships as well." EducationPlanner.org also includes:
