Senator Browne Announces Funding for Stillwater DamStillwater Dam in Monroe County was approved last Tuesday, November 10, for $1,312,500 in grants through Pennsylvania’s H20 PA High Hazard Dam Grant Program to help with repairs, according to Senator Pat Browne (R-16th Senatorial District). "The Stillwater Dam will benefit greatly from this grant award as it is in dire need of repairs," Senator Browne said, who represents parts of Monroe County. "This dam serves a vital role in protecting the people who live and work in the area from dangerous flooding. It also prevents pollution in other waterways and keeps our water supplies clean." The Department of Environmental Protection has classified the dam as a B-1 High Hazard Unsafe Dam, meaning that failure of the dam could result in subsequent loss of lives and substantial property damage. The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority and will go toward the $1.75 million cost to fix the deficiencies with the dam. Stillwater Dam is located at the Camp Minsi Boy Scout camp run by the Minsi Trails Council. H2O PA was created under Act 63 of 2008 to fund water and sewer projects, as well as stormwater projects, flood control projects and high hazard dam repairs.
